I just went to my Reumatologist and she informed me I do have osteopereosos but did not think I was ready for injection which I will not do unless absoloutely necessary. She did recommend something else starts with an f. Cannot remember the name of it. Decided not to do anything until I have next bone scan. Yes PBC does go along with causes of osteoperosis.

I don't have osteoporosis but did have very low levels of Vitamin D. This can be associated with PBC. Without vitamin D, the body can't utilize calcium properly, hense the osteoporosis. I'll be taking D forever,I guess.

I have joint pains bad, and frustrated because the heptologist I recently saw insisted that PBC does not cause joint pain. Yet I read otherwise everywhere 🤷‍♀️

Hi Ellen. Was the medication your rheumatologist recommended called Fosamax? I recently started taking a generic version of it called Alendronate once a week when I was diagnosed with osteoporosis about 7 weeks ago. It seemed to help with my bone pain in about a week.
