It can be prescribed in combination with ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) for those who do not respond adequately to UDCA alone or as a monotherapy for those who cannot tolerate UDCA. Common side effects include headache, abdominal pain, nausea, bloating, and dizziness. Rare but serious side effects may include fractures, liver test abnormalities, and biliary obstruction. Always follow your healthcare provider's advice and report any unusual symptoms.
