First time ever experiencing PBC rash-I have been dealing with for 4+weeks. Went to Derm MD prescribed Prednisone, topical cream and ordered lab. I felt better after treatment. Then about 1 1/2 week later, it went from my waist to my upper body area and legs. I made an emergency appointment to see Derm MD. I told her that the itching was nonstop and I raised my shirt to show her the finger bruising all over my back/sides of body and upper legs. I received a Cortisone injection and 2nd course… read more

This sounds like it’s not the PBC itch. But it may have made it worse. Don’t let them put you off keep seeing docs. If Prednisone isn’t working get off of it! Prednisone is very hard on the Liver in my opinion.
This may be some other Auto immune issue. You might considered seeing a Rheumatologist. Just a thought.
Keep us in the loop.

I take 300 mg twice a day. Probably not enough because I just got DX with Stage 4 on my liver biopsy. And my blood tests are showing an infection some where. So got a bone marrow test Got zillion tests done and Gallbladder removal surgery because of polyps which can turn cancerous. I can't believe all these things going to crap at once. BTW I read the Itching is from (or can come from) high bilirubin. Is yours normal or high? Check out symptoms of high bilirubin if you have it. If so search how to bring it down or help with the itching from the bilirubin.

It sounds like you're going through a tough time with your PBC-related rash and itching. Here are some tips and information that might help:

- Itching and PBC: Itching, or pruritus, is a common symptom of PBC. It can be severe and affect quality of life.
- Treatment Options:
- Antihistamines: Over-the-counter options like diphenhydramine (Benadryl) can help, especially at night.
- Prescription Medications: If OTC options don't work, your doctor might prescribe stronger medications.
- Topical Treatments: Creams and ointments can provide localized relief.
- Corticosteroids: Prednisone and cortisone injections, as you've experienced, can reduce inflammation and itching.
- Managing Symptoms:
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.
- Moisturize: Use unscented lotions to keep your skin from drying out.
- Avoid Hot Showers: Hot water can exacerbate itching; opt for lukewarm showers instead.
- Wear Loose Clothing: Tight clothing can irritate your skin further.

It's good to hear that things are getting better. Continue to follow your doctor's advice and keep them updated on your symptoms. If the itching persists or worsens, don't hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider.

What is the dosage of Urso that you take? That might have to be bumped up until the itching goes away. I had to do that for a bit. Sorry about the rash, that I have never had.
