My diagnosis is PBC. Interested in learning side effects, the good and bad, etc. of Ocaliva from your experience. Also, improvements you have experienced and the time frame before you experienced improvements. Whatever you are able to share is welcome and appreciated.

Ocaliva (Obeticholic Acid) can be used alone for adults who cannot tolerate Ursodiol (UDCA). Here are some key points about Ocaliva:

Ocaliva (Obeticholic Acid) can be used alone for adults who cannot tolerate Ursodiol (UDCA). Here are some key points about Ocaliva:

- Usage: Ocaliva is taken orally once daily in tablet form.
- Common Side Effects: Itching, tiredness, stomach pain, rash, joint pain, mouth and throat pain, dizziness, constipation, swelling in hands or feet, fast or irregular heartbeat, fever, changes in thyroid function, and eczema.
- Serious Side Effects: Deterioration of liver conditions, potentially leading to liver failure, liver transplants, or death, especially in individuals with PBC and liver cirrhosis. It can also lower HDL-C ("good" cholesterol) or cause severe itching.
