Can The Gallbladder Be Removed If You Have PBC
I am on Urso. I was diagnosed January 24th and had my gall bladder removed February 15th. You can take it without a gall bladder.
I had my gallbladder removed two years ago after finding out it was full of stones after having an x-ray for another issue and before having an "attack". The surgery was successful and caused no further issues.
Hey @A myPBCteam Member - this is a great question and something I would refer to your doctor. In the research that I did, it appears that a cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal) can be safely performed in people with PBC, depending on individual health factors like the presence of gallstones or inflammation. However, it's important to consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice, as they can assess your specific situation and the severity of PBC.
I put my cholecystectomy off for way too long. When I got really sick and had it removed, parts of the gall bladder were necrotic! The surgeon said that the gall bladder CAN kill you!
Mine had been out since 1982 way before the #&_$^<$ lol
