Hey Dawn. It sounds like your liver biopsy went good (the actual procedure) That's Great. I don't know if you have a Hep Dr? (Hepatologist) but your Hep Dr.woukd be the one to discuss Any and All labs, tests, results, and treatments. Any questions you have would be answered by your Hep.Dr. I love this group because people are willing to share what and where they are at with their PBC. Wishing you the best.

This is the first I have heard of a "meld score". What does it determine?

I had the liver biopsy about 3 months ago. It was to determine the doctors diagnosis of PBC. My lab work was the only reason I found out I had a liver problem that was concerning my personal practitioner. My labs for my liver have for many years been slightly high but was not a concern do to some other meds I was on. Then The lab numbers jumped way up and by ultrasound it was determined that I have fatty liver disease. So a very strict diet and removal of a med began last May. 3 months later I returned for more lab work only to find my numbers tripled. So I was then sent to the Hep Dr. More lab, CT Scan, MRI, and biopsy. And now my labs are monthly to see if meds work. Numbers are back within normal range. This month I am scheduled for the Endoscopy and next month the Colonoscopy. This is all I know as of today. But I also have learned a number of things from all the lovely people here willing to share their stories and lives with me. If you haven't noticed, there are more women here than men. PBC is a "rare" disease but is even more so with men than women.

I've never heard of meld before, so I'll be asking my doctor when I see them.
