I took 5mgs of Ocaliva for 6 months it did not lower my alt, in fact it increased. Dr raised it to 10mgs and boy that did it, I was practically clawing myself from itching. After 3 days, I stopped taking it. It made me worse not better. I hope you have better luck!

Ursodiol and Ocaliva
- Ursodiol: Helps move bile through the liver, improving liver function and reducing scarring. Common side effects include abdominal pain, hair loss, diarrhea, nausea, and itching.
- Ocaliva: Another bile acid medication used when Ursodiol isn't enough. It helps keep bile flowing and reduces bile salts in the body.

Osteoporosis Management
- Supplements: Vitamin D and calcium supplements are essential as PBC can make it difficult to absorb fat-soluble vitamins.
- Exercise: Gentle exercises like Pilates and yoga can strengthen muscles around the spine and reduce chronic pain.
- Pain Management: Over-the-counter and prescription painkillers can help manage osteoporosis-related pain.

Sjögren’s Syndrome
- Dry Mouth: Saliva substitutes, chewing gum, or sucking on hard candy can help.
- Dry Eyes: Artificial tears or prescription eye drops, and wearing goggles or sunglasses outside can provide relief.

Recommendations
- Consult Your Doctor: Always speak with your doctor before starting new medications or supplements.
- Regular Checkups: Ensure regular dental and eye exams if you have Sjögren’s syndrome.
