Dry mouth is a common symptom for people with Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), especially those with Sjögren’s syndrome. Here are some tips to manage dry mouth:

- Saliva Substitutes: Use over-the-counter saliva substitutes containing xylitol or hydroxyethyl cellulose, such as Biotene Dry Mouth and Mouth Kote. Be aware that xylitol can cause stomach cramping and diarrhea in some people.
- Sugar-Free Options: Suck on sugar-free hard candies or chew sugar-free gum.
- Mouthwashes: Use mouthwashes that contain xylitol.
- Hydration: Sip water throughout the day to keep your mouth moist.
- Humidifier: Use a humidifier in your bedroom at night to add moisture to the air.
- Lifestyle Changes: Limit caffeinated beverages, stop smoking, and avoid chewing tobacco.

If dry mouth is interfering with eating or talking, consult your doctor about saliva substitutes or medication.
