Ursodiol

A myPBCteam Member asked a question 💭
Maine, NY

I have recently experienced a bowel blockage. I am curious if anyone thinks that the Urso could cause this to happen as it does cause constipation. I am a bit skeptical to take the Urso, but my dr says to take it even though on a liquid diet. I was off it for 2 days and my enzyms went down over 100. Sure makes me wonder

Urso is the only Medication that we have had for 30+ years. My experience with Urso and bowel issues is get off of Beef. Our livers are compromised and can’t break down Beef Proteins. I went on a Plant based diet and it really helped.

I've been off Urso for years because of an allergic reaction. They've never put me on anything else. My enzymes fluctuate between nearly normal and 3-4 times normal. When I've asked what I can do to keep them down, all I get is a shrug and a puzzled look. I've had pbc for along time.

No it helps move the bile and helps keep the bile ducts open in the liver. Talk to doctor about these issues they can get you on the right meds. Urso is the best treatment still so far.hope this helps.
