Anybody Else Have UTIs With Their PBC

A myPBCteam Member asked a question 💭

Never had one before in my life. Two month's after starting Ursodiol I started having to pee more. A lot more! Was tested by my PM and I have been told I have a UTI. Looked up on google and read the National Institute of Health has studies on reoccurring UTIs and PBC. Boy this stuff just gets better and better🤐

Oh my, what a journey you have been on! I hope that you are on a better path now. You sound so on top of everything, so aware and strong! My best wishes for you!

I think my pbc is directly related to a severe kidney infection with sepsis that I had about a year before my enzymes started going up. I spent a few days in the ICU at that time and started having joint pain about 6 months later. Within a year my enzymes were very high and, without any other tests, my Dr told me that I was just fat and if I would lose weight all would be well. Of course, that didn't happen

My PBC was actually diagnosed when I had a brain aneurysm and the ANA, AMA in my spinal fluid was extremely high. I was lucky to have a very thorough neurologist! The aneurysm was not related to pbc.
It's interesting that blood work at that time was negative except for elevated enzymes!
Blood work became positive about a year later and liver biopsy finally done to make the diagnosis.

Thanks. I try to be positive. If I can't do something today, I try again tomorrow 😁

Thank you for your response. I had no idea. The frequent need to pee has had me stopping at some very sketchy gas stations😂 I feel so much better that I have some control over this - starting to feel better with antibiotics.
