Best way is to find a list of liver doctors or GI doctors and ask them how many people with PBC they have treated or are currently seeing. That made the difference between my well meaning old doctor who had no experience, and my new doctor who had the experience to help me actually deal with my symptoms!

My GI specialist has been amazing. She did send me to a liver specialist nearby , he did my liver biopsy for my diagnosis.

I think it depends on where you live. I am just seeing a local gastroenterologist. To get a specialist I would have to travel to a more metropolitan area. You could check out well known medical facilities to see if they have specialists. For me it would mean going to Chicago, St Louis, or Mayo Clinic. I have not looked into it yet.
