Hi @A myPBCteam Member! This is a great question to ask your doctor. Generally speaking, dental issues can be associated with pbc, and in some cases, the medication used for treatment, like Ursodiol, might have side effects that could potentially affect dental health. PBC itself can lead to dry mouth or Sjögren's syndrome, which increases the risk of dental problems, such as cavities or gum disease. Ursodiol, used to treat PBC, generally has a good safety profile, but like any medication, it can have side effects, although direct links to dental health are less commonly reported.

It's always important to keep your healthcare team in the loop about any new symptoms or concerns, including dental issues. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene can help manage these risks. Have you noticed any specific dental problems since starting treatment or since your PBC diagnosis?

I have dental issues and I also have Sjogrens. I have had tiny small cavities and have had to replace a couple of caps. I have a great dentist who keeps a close eye on my teeth. I go every 6 months.
